Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner
  • Police and Crime Commissioner

Alison Hernandez was elected as the Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in May 2016 and was re-elected in May 2021.

Under her leadership we have become the second lowest crime rate area in England and Wales (out of 43 police forces) and we are ranked lowest for burglaries.

As our PCC Alison has improved support for victims, put more police officers on the beat and taken a stronger stand against anti-social behaviour. She has:

  • Recruited 317 extra police officers, which will rise to 498 more by 2022.
  • Doubled the roads policing team to improve road safety and to make it more difficult for drugs to be brought into our area from other regions.
  • Created a Rural Crime Team so manpower and resources are not just focused on our cities and major towns.
  • Provided an extra Neighbourhood Police Officer for each of Devon and Cornwall’s 27 policing sectors.
  • Installed, upgraded or repaired more than 250 CCTV cameras.
  • Secured £1.7 million of additional funding from Central Government for victim services.
  • Established a £1 million Violence Reduction Unit to help tackle assaults and domestic violence, and won awards for her campaigning on domestic abuse.

For more information about Alison and her plans to re-open some police station front desks, help more young people escape from lives of drugs and crime, and crack down on pet theft, visit her website www.alisonhernandez.co.uk.
