20 Mike Jeffery 50 year service

The Chairman of Central Devon Conservatives, Mike Knuckey, has congratulated Councillor Mike Jeffery on reaching the remarkable milestone of 50 years of continuous service to Moretonhampstead Parish Council. Mike first joined the Council in 1976 and has dedicated five decades to serving local residents and supporting community life in the town.

Central Devon Conservative Chairman, Mike Knuckey, said:

“I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to Mike Jeffery on this extraordinary achievement. Fifty years of public service is a truly remarkable milestone and reflects an exceptional commitment to Moretonhampstead and its residents.

“Mike has been a steadfast champion for his community, providing leadership, experience and wisdom over many decades. His contribution extends far beyond local government and demonstrates the very best traditions of public service.

“As a Conservative member, Mike has embodied the values of service, community spirit and civic responsibility throughout his career. He has earned the respect of colleagues and residents alike through his dedication to improving life for local people.

“On behalf of Central Devon Conservatives, I thank Mike for everything he has done for Moretonhampstead and the wider Dartmoor area and wish him every success for the future.”

Mike's record of public service includes 50 years on Moretonhampstead Parish Council, 24 years as a District Councillor and more than 20 years as a Member of the Dartmoor National Park Authority. He also served for 37 years in the retained Fire Service.

Alongside his elected and public roles, Mike has made a significant contribution to community life through volunteering, including supporting the construction of the Moretonhampstead swimming pool, serving as a school governor for more than 40 years, promoting local heritage and sharing practical skills through community projects.

Moretonhampstead Parish Council recently marked the occasion with a community celebration attended by councillors, friends, colleagues and local organisations, where Mike was presented with a handcrafted commemorative plate in recognition of his exceptional contribution.
